Support Ukrainian Refugees by Attending our Festival!

Ten percent is an important concept in Christianity. A tithe. The Lord commands His people to give ten percent of what He gives them to His Church. We expect our parishioners to do this as part of their Christian struggle, and we in turn tithe from our festival proceeds. This year that tithe will go to Ukrainian War Refugees.

JOIN US AT THE FESTIVAL TO SUPPORT THIS WORTHY AND IMPORTANT CAUSE!

The Church is against war. Full stop. The Church prays for peace at every Divine Service. Full stop. The Church welcomes all that seek the Heavenly Kingdom no matter their nationality, because our true homeland IS the Heavenly Kingdom. We are pilgrims on this earth. Don’t be confused: our Festival is a Russian Orthodox festival. Christ is the center. There are no politics of the world here. Bring yourself, your family, your friends, and leave politics at home – just as we do every time we come to church.

ALL ARE WELCOME! JOIN US!

Cross Procession for Peace is September 17
13/8/22, 12:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory Joyce

On the Saturday that we had originally scheduled our Russian Festival for this year (Saturday, September 17) we will hold a Cross Procession and prayers for peace in Ukraine. There are two options to participate in this action for peace:

1. Join our Cross Procession that day. All are welcome, but there will be no politics AT ALL. We will walk and pray together under the protection of the Cross according to the established Orthodox tradition, asking the Lord to grant peace in Ukraine. The procession begins at 10:00 a.m. More information and a sign up can be found at the link below. Please sign up if you intend to participate. This helps us plan first aid, water, and other necessary material things to make sure all can participate safely:

SIGN UP - CROSS PROCESSION FOR PEACE

2. Join us for our special prayer service (moleben) for peace after the Cross Procession at St. Vladimir’s. All are welcome, but there will be no politics AT ALL. We are interested only in the Lord’s help – because clearly only the Lord can stop the war, and human wisdom has done nothing positive in this regard thus far. The special prayer for peace will take place at St. Vladimir’s about 1:00 p.m. That is, when the Cross Procession ends. Doors will be open beginning at 12:00 p.m. for those who would like to pray quietly in the church and wait for the Cross Procession to return.

Even if you cannot join us, please read this prayer for peace in Ukraine and America at 1:00 p.m. that day – this is about the time we will be reading this same prayer at St. Vladimir’s:

PRAYER FOR PEACE IN UKRAINE & AMERICA

Ann Arbor Russian Festivals 2022 & 2023
24/6/22, 12:00 PM

Due principally to the continuing war in Ukraine, the Ann Arbor Russian Festival Committee has decided to forego our 2022 festival. This difficult decision came after much discussion, thought, prayer, and a vote of the committee. We fully understand that some people will applaud our decision, while others will be disappointed and perhaps even feel defeated. The Church does not have a "side" in the war, but rather, prays continually for peace. With hostilities ongoing we simply felt it was not appropriate to hold the Russian Festival this year. We have set the 2023 Russian Festival for September 16-17, 2023 and we hope you will mark those dates on your calendar now and join us then! Please watch for more information about St. Vladimir’s activities that you and your family can participate in this fall: a Bake Sale & Concert + The Walk of Life Cross Procession + MORE!
